The North Texas Area

The North Texas Area is part of the Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), which has as its vision "to be a faithful, growing church that demonstrates true community, deep Christian spirituality and a passion for justice" (Micah 6:8). The North Texas Area exists to serve the Disciples of Christ congregations in the Texas counties of Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, and Rockwall, and one church in Paris, Tx. Click here for more information. North Texas Leader & Learner Event

On Saturday, January 31, Dr. Dick Hamm will keynote the NTA Leader and Learner Event at East Dallas Christian Church. Registration will begin at 8:30 and the event will end at 3 PM. The $20 fee inslcudes lunch on-site.  The theme of the event will be "Building Healthy Church Communities" and there will be 2 - 3 dozen workshops on how every aspect of church life helps or hurts our care for one another and the world around us.  Registration information will be out soon.

Confirmed workshops include  The Hospitable Community: Love People Like Jesus Loves People, Practices that Build Community (Gratitude, Promise-keeping, Truthful Living and Hospitality), The Small Group as Covenant Community, Current Thought on Small Groups: How Mission Shapes Community, Building a Needs-based Community such as a Pre-marital Cohort, When Trust is Broken:How Communities Recover, How Diverse Communities Can Discover Common Ground: Dismantling Racial Injustice, Mission and Community: Forming Community Around Service to Others, Sacred Community and Social Media: Why Likes, Follows and Hashtags Matter for Churches, Building a Christian Community with Young Adults, Family as Community, Why Can't Men Make Friends: Men and Community, Including Home-Centered in Your Community, Prayer: The Spiritual Bones of Community Building, Commitment and Community: Does Membership Matter?, Who Do We Say That We Are?, The Disciples' Historical Commitment to Christian Unity, The Current State of Ecumenism and others.

NTA Churchmen's Breakfast February 7 at East Dallas Christian Church

Camping Registration Begins for Fall and Winter Rallies


The registration process now centralizes all registrations and money being handled by the camp. The 2015 Camp Season schedule is posted on this site.

The Engaging Church Seminar
Is On-Line at the NTA Website!

engaging_church_250w.jpgThe North Texas Area of the Christian Church in the Southwest has launched an on-line video seminar for churches in the NTA. The NTA has licensed the "Engaging Church" seminar produced by Church Growth, Inc. The arrangement allows the NTA to present the complete video seminar in its secure Member Portal for the clergy and laity of the North Texas Area.

The seminar discusses how to attract outsiders, connect visitors and integrate new members. The seminar is presented in high-quality Flash video in six sessions. In addition to all six full-length videos, the seminar workbook is provided, session summaries and an area-wide on-line discussion forum for talking about each session of the seminar. Also, Larry Ross, Area Minister and President of the North Texas Area is available to visit NTA churches in a follow-up capacity to help interpret and apply the principles of this seminar in a holistic way

Dani Loving Cartwright delivered a heartfelt message to several hundred Disciples at the North Texas Area Assembly, Sunday May 3, 2009 at Northway Christian Church in Dallas.
